چکیده

A new fractional time-stepping technique for solving incompressible flows with variable density is proposed. The main feature of this method is that, as opposed to other known algorithms, the pressure is determined by just solving one Poisson equation per time step, which greatly reduces the computational cost. The stability of the method is proved and the performance of the method is numerically illustrated. 2008 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Simulation of Gravity Wave Propagation in Free Surface Flows by an Incompressible SPH Algorithm

This paper presents an incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) model to simulate wave propagation in a free surface flow. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved in a Lagrangian framework using a three-step fractional method. In the first step, a temporary velocity field is provided according to the relevant body forces. This velocity field is renewed in the second step to include t...

Error Analysis of a Fractional Time-stepping Technique for Incompressible Flows with Variable

In this paper we analyze the convergence properties of a new fractional time-stepping technique for the solution of the variable density incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. The main feature of this method is that, contrary to other existing algorithms, the pressure is determined by just solving one Poisson equation per time step. First-order error estimates are proved, and stability of a fo...

A Kinematics Scalar Projection Method (KSP) for Incompressible Flows with Variable Density

A new scalar projection method presented for simulating incompressible flows with variable density is proposed. It reverses conventional projection algorithm by computing first the irrotational component of the velocity and then the pressure. The first phase of the projection is purely kinematics. The predicted velocity field is subjected to a discrete Hodge-Helmholtz decomposition. The second ...

A Multigrid Accelerated High-order Compact Fractional-step Method for Unsteady Incompressible Viscous Flows

The objective of this study is the development of an efficient high-order compact scheme for unsteady incompressible viscous flows. The scheme is constructed on a staggered Cartesian grid system in order to avoid spurious oscillations in the pressure field. Navier-Stokes equations are advanced in time with the second order Adams-Bashford method without considering the pressure terms in the pred...
